So Cal Pharmacist Decertification Campaign from UFCW
Recently we obtained information that the pharmacist in the Southern California UFCW Locals were working on a campaign to desert from the UFCW.
What we have learned is that the pharmacist were looking into organizing with an organization called "The Guild" http://www.gfpp.org/guild_history.htm
We've been told that the pharmacist have been working on the decertification campaign since the 2003 grocery strike.
Reports we've gotten say that the UFCW is encouraging them to vote to decertify the current bargaining unit and then certify (in same election) the UFCW Professional unit to negotiate a new contract. They have four choices to pick from if they decertify... UFCW, UFCW Professional, The Guild or Non-Union.
Here is the Southern Cal UFCW's plea to the pharmacist- http://www.ufcwsocalrx.org/assets/pdfdocs/inthenews/UFCW-Letter_DishonestStatementsbyGuildPresident.pdf
Here is a document from the NLRB regarding the pharmacist decert-

In this link we see UFCW International President Joseph Hansen basicly on his knees and begging the pharmacist not to decertify- http://groceryworkers.org/presidents_letterrx.pdf/download
We would have to point out to all grocery workers within the UFCW to notice how co-operative Joe Hansen & the UFCW can get when members threaten to take away their dues revenue(decertify)
You have got to love how Hansen offers to negotiate a "new seperate contract for pharmacist" Well hello Mr. Hansen! If the UFCW would have done it's job right in the first place instead of sleeping in cooperates bed the pharmacist wouldn't have wanted to decertify!
Our message to all grocery workers is if the UFCW is not doing the job that benefits you the member then take a lesson from the pharmacist and find another labor organization that will!
