Rite-Aid Workers Need Our Help!

by RankNfile last modified 2008-04-12 07:54

Rite-Aid workers in Northern Ca have been working with an expired contract for almost a year now! Last June of 2007 Rite-Aid workers contract expired and at this point the union workers are telling us that they have heard very little from their union leaders at UFCW Local 8-Golden State regarding a contract settlement. No proposals, no negotiation meetings, no information meetings, no reps in stores with updates! The Rite-Aid contract expired before all the grocery contracts and the workers were told their negotiations were put on hold until the grocery contracts had been settled.

The last information Rite-Aid workers received was on 2/13/08.

Needless to say not a whole lot of comfort or information for the Rite-Aid workers with this last update!

We find it amazing that the leadership of UFCW Local 8-GS has not only settled the grocery contracts but also found the time to slam together "another merger" but have not been able to achieve a contract settlement for the Rite-Aid workers! I think we all can see where the Loveall’s and the Local 8 leadership’s priorities are? It sure isn’t in taking care of our Rite-Aid brothers & sisters!

The Rite-Aid workers have gotten tired of waiting for their unions mis-leaders so they are organizing a "fill the voice message campaign". The workers have been contacting other Rite-Aid stores in Local 8's geographical areas and asking other members to fill the Local 8's message machine demanding a settlement to their contract.

At this time we are asking all other union members, labor activist & UFCW members to stand in solidarity with the Northen Ca Rite-Aid workers and help them meet their goal to fill Local 8's answering machine demanding a settlement to their contract! Just one simple phone call could go a long way in helping our brothers & sisters from Rite-Aid.

Call the UFCW Local 8-Golden State office at (916) 786-0588 ext 201 and tell the Local 8 leadership to quit stalling and get the Rite-Aid contract settled.

You can also contact the Rite-Aid corporate office at (717) 975-5718 and make the same demands.

Rite-Aid’s logo says... "With us, it’s personal" Let’s tell Rite-Aid when you screw our brothers & sisters "with us, it’s personal too"

Thank You for your Solidartiy!
