Raleys deputizing Courtesy Clerks???

Raleys has always had a secret shopper program, where secret shoppers come in and grade our level of service. But in the past year they've stepped up their game and started having head clerks do "peer shops". This is where a head clerk hides behind the banana display or whatever and does a mock shop report on you. Our manager has been writing people up for getting bad reports on these "peer shops", and everyone is too chicken shit to call the union because they think the union won't help them anyway. Just so you know, our manager gets pissed when we don't get perfect scores. Never mind satisfactory. He wants perfect. He wrote one person up the same day as they got a mediocre peer shop, and said it was because a customer called and complained. When the manager described the customer's complaint, this checker had no recollection of anything described. Everyone knows the manager was just writing him up because of the peer shop.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago. It's slow and I'm tidying up my checkstand, and this 18 year old female bagger stands right next to me, leans up on the checkstand, watching the checker about 3 checkstands down. She pulls out a pen and paper, and fuck I've thought i've seen it all before, people, but she had a PEER SHOP REPORT SHEET, AND WAS FILLING IT OUT! The performance of a cashier with a generation of experience was being reviewed, OFFICIALLY, by a girl who just went to her Senior ball last spring, and has never checked in her life. She hardly even bags. She usually just walks around and checks her text messages, pretending to get carts.

I thought it had to be a joke. I asked her. She said no, and even pointed to the head clerk who told her to do it. Evidently, this head clerk was working on other shit and just decided to let a bagger do the peer shop for her.
18 years old this girl is, dude. And she's not exactly a rocket scientist. And, mind you, people have been getting written up de facto for these peer shops.

Should I call Paul Zupat at UFCW, our store's rep, or would I be wasting my time?
