Members of UFCW Local 8-Golden State it’s ELECTION time!

by RankNfile last modified 2008-06-21 20:15

By federal labor law union elections must be held every 3 years and this year 2008 is the year that the leadership at UFCW Local 8 must hold an election for union officers.

This past week the Loveall leadership tried to sneak out the notification of the General Nominations of Officers for President, Secretary-Treasure, Recorder and Vice Presidents 1 through 21 in a second summer issue of the "Voice of Action"

The outside cover is very similar to the first summer issuer , 3 kinds in a pool on each others shoulders. The second summer "Voice of Action" is the one with the nominations notification and that will be found on page 9. Is Loveall trying to deceive the members once again regarding elections???

All rank n file members "in good standing" are eligible to run for any of these officer positions.

Here’s the problem though, it appears that the current leaders of Local 8 have only sent out the nomination notification to "some" members not all! By federal labor law they are required to notify "all" members in a timely manor regarding union elections. If you have not received notification of nominations contact President Jacques Loveall’s office immediately and demand proper notification and demand to know when the election will be held.

You can contact Jacques Loveall’s office at (916) 786-0588 ext 201. The more members that call the more pressure Loveall will be under to abide by the law and do what’s right for the members. Question! Have you as a member ever voted for union officers? Don’t you think it’s time that we do?

You can also contact us at info@groceryworkers.org If you have any questions regarding union officer elections.
