Loveall Deceives Again; Save Mart Screws Their Own

What was that quote by Jacques Loveall when he unveiled the last contract for local 8 members? Oh yes!... "No Concessions"

This past week Save Mart department heads in the Local 8 areas were told by Save Mart corporate that they would no longer have consecutive days off! From now on if management saw fit they could split the days off for department heads.

Sounds like a concession to us!

Consecutive days off for full time employees has been long standing contract language for Local 588/8 members as far back as anyone can remember but now members/dept heads are being told by the "Bigger & Better" Local 8 reps that language is now changed in the new contract.

Does anyone remember reading or being told that by the Local 8 leadership before voting on the latest contract? This must be one of those cleverly hidden contract changes that the Loveall’s are so famous for!

Damn! Jacques even your old man being the sellout he was never gave up consecutive days off for full time employees!

When Save Mart took over the Albertson’s stores they flooded employees with company propaganda saying what an "employee friendly" company Save Mart is! But now Save Mart seems to be putting the knife in the backs of their own, the department heads.

For such an "employee friendly" company Save Mart doesn’t seem to put much value on family time for it’s employees, especially their department heads!

The members/dept heads of UFCW Local 8-GS are fuming mad over this issue but as of yet have taken no action to protest their concerns over the issue. It seems it’s business as usual with the Local 8 members, grumble and bitch amongst each other but take no action to try and confront and remedy the problem.

Or maybe a mass step-down of department heads may get the point across?

One thing is for sure standing idle(doing nothing) is not an option! Save Mart plays it up big in the communities that they are in and members need to use that to their advantage. Remaining silent on this issue will just set the ball rolling for all full timers to lose their consecutive days off in the next round of contract negotiations!

In closing........... Jacques Loveall you should be ashamed of yourself for ever allowing this kind of language in a contract! I’m sure you get your two days off in a row!
