Our Vision For Local 588..........(8)

Transparency: a union has no secrets from it's members. If you pay it then you own it.

Accountability: a union is at all times accountable to it's members.

Integrity: a union should be corruption free. A union leadership should focus on it’s members well being rather than it’s own self interest.

Involvement: a union should encourage it’s members to be involved. Members should be involved with everything from negotiations to salaries for officers and staff. No member should ever be locked out of union business. Encouraging union involvement will only build a stronger more educated union membership. Knowledge is power

Accessibility: a union leadership should make all aspects of the union accessible to the members including meetings, financial reports, reps, union officers and the union hall, also no member should ever have to travel hundreds of miles to attend a general membership meeting!

Unity: a union needs to practice and teach it’s members unity(solidarity) not just use it for a slogan on a button or a web site. A union leadership should be promoting shop floor collective power to it’s members as well as unity for other unions.

This is our vision for OUR union!

Membership Should Be About Ownership!
